Raketa “Avant-Garde” Wristwatch Is Art In Motion

The new version of the Avant-Garde watch, while based on the original model with its famous red triangular hand, rises to a fundamentally new design level.

It now has a multi-layered dial, a sophisticated case and more striking hands with Super-LumiNova glow, showing the time even in the darkest dark. One of the main design innovations was to replace the usual numbers with words: zero, three, six, nine. Three main avant-garde colours – red, white, and black – combined with the austere geometry of hands and fonts help emphasize the beauty and uniqueness of each moment. Even a quick glance at your wrist will remind you of this, revealing each time a new art composition on the dial.

Drawing on the idea that the Raketa Avant-Garde model is “art in motion”, you can constantly interpret and reinterpret this ever-changing artwork, filling it each time with new meanings.

The abstract geometrical shapes on the dial are set in motion by a Raketa automatic movement designed and manufactured at the Raketa Watch Factory in St. Petersburg. Looking through the transparent case back, you can appreciate the beauty of the movement and enjoy its harmonious work.

 Raketa “Avant-Garde”

Watch For Polar Expeditions Features Northern Lights Coating

Saint-Petersburg, Russia. April 2024. Raketa Polar – a watch created specially for polar expeditions – is back in Raketa’s permanent collection with a new design.

The journey beyond the polar circle is thorny and difficult: it requires great strength and long distances travelled in extreme conditions, both by land and sea. Following its long tradition of making watches for polar explorers, Raketa has developed a model for people who are ready to set out to conquer these boundless spaces.

The 24-hour dial is essential for time-reading beyond the polar circles where polar day and polar night can last for up to 6 months each. Six lines divide the perimeter of the dial into 6 quarters (4 hours each) allowing each crewmember to keep count of his watches/shifts during maritime expeditions. Another unique feature of the dial is the special Superluminova coating that reminds northern lights. It covers the entire surface of the dial and hands, ensuring perfect legibility even in total polar darkness.

The solid and robust case, with straight facets and sharp angles, is particularly adapted to the rigours of polar expeditions. The design of this case is harmoniously completed with a stainless-steel bracelet emphasising the masculine character of this timepiece.

The rotating bezel is engraved and enamelled with the name of all the Arctic ocean seas and their respective time zones, which allows using the GMT function. This 24-hour watch with a rotating bezel can be also used as a solar compass both in the northern and southern hemispheres.

The back of the watch reveals the beautifully decorated automatic movement which is entirely produced by the Raketa Watch Factory in Saint-Petersburg. The finishing of the rotor is reminiscent of northern lights.

Each Raketa Polar watch has a certificate confirming its technical fitness for use in the harshest natural conditions of polar regions. The certificate is issued within the frame of the “Arctic voluntary certification system” by the Nizhny Novgorod Testing Centre.

The price

The cost of the watch is 2.000 EUR (VAT included)/ $2,930 CAD. For the comfort of our customers, Raketa watches are delivered worldwide free of charge by DHL directly up to their front door.

Raketa Releases Watch With Counterclockwise Movement

Raketa “Russian Code”
In the beat of the Universe

The “Russian Code”, one of Raketa’s most recognizable models with a counterclockwise movement, is finally launched as part of Raketa’s main collection.
The watch is crafted in an all-new case: a combination of sharp facets and rounded curves are enhanced by a mix of satin-brushed finishing with polished edges, while the sapphire glass has a more complex domed shape. A synthetic ruby is yet another update of the case: it glows behind Raketa factory’s logo carved on the side of the crown.

The centre of the dial displays the constellations over St. Petersburg on the morning of April 12, 1961, when Yuri Gagarin made history by becoming the first man to fly into space.
Textured polished indexes with two types of coatings (light rhodium on even and dark on odd numerals) convey an extra 3-dimensional aspect to the already multilayered dial.

Behind the elegant design lies the revolutionary concept that time should move in harmony with the natural counterclockwise movement of the planets in our Solar System. Therefore,
just like the planets around the Sun, the hands of the Raketa “Russian Code” rotate in a counterclockwise direction around the dial.
The case back reveals a beautifully decorated automatic movement entirely manufactured and assembled at the Raketa Watch Factory in Saint-Petersburg.
Are you ready to move on to the new generation of watches that tick to the beat of the Universe?

A watch that invites you to be different

To wear this watch, you will have to break free from the most fundamental rule of time-reading — the clockwise movement of time that was taught to us from ancestral times.
Indeed, early people read the time with sundials by observing the clockwise movement of the sun in the sky (from left to right) and of the corresponding shade on the dial (from right to left). When our ancestors finally invented the concept of hands (instead of shade) moving around a dial, they naturally decided to keep this clockwise movement that they observed in nature

However, there is a serious flaw in this decision: the Sun doesn’t move clockwise in the sky.
It’s an illusion — it actually doesn’t move at all. It is the Earth that moves in a counterclockwise direction around the Sun!

The sun follows a clockwise movement in the sky when it is seen from the Earth’s northern hemisphere: in the southern
hemisphere, it goes in the opposite direction. The reason why early watchmakers decided to replicate on dials the clockwise
movement as seen in the northern hemisphere is simply because this is where they always lived (and as a matter of fact where
90% of the world population has always lived).

The Raketa Watch Factory corrected this mistake by designing a watch where the movement of time follows the natural movement in the Universe.
This watch is certainly not for the faint-hearted but rather for people who are willing to stand out from the crowd and be different!

A watch that is true to Raketa’s DNA

By following the movement in the Solar System, this watch underlines the link between Raketa and the Cosmos: the brand Raketa (which means “Space Rocket” in Russian) was
created in 1961 in honour of the first manned space flight by the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. Since then, Raketa’s designers and engineers were always inspired by space and regularly made watches for cosmonauts and watches celebrating the Solar System.

A watch with a very special movement

The counterclockwise movement of the hands is powered by a very special Raketa automatic movement (2615R). The engineers of the Raketa Watch Factory inverted the movement of the hands by changing the construction of the 2 most important parts of the
mechanical movement: the mainspring barrel and the anchor module! This engineering feat could only be accomplished because Raketa produces in-house 100% of these parts.

Superb Watch From Raketa Uses Vintage Metal From Ekranoplan Landing Craft

The Raketa Watch Factory launches a new tool watch dedicated to the Lun-class Ekranoplan: a Soviet era hybrid machine — half ship, half plane — unlike anything else in the world.

Legendary soviet achievement

Part ship & part plane, the Lun-class Ekranoplan was built in the early 80s by the Soviet Union as an experimental coastal defence vehicle. It can claim to be one of the most extraordinary machines ever built by mankind. It combined the best characteristics of a ship and that of a plane: it could carry as much cargo as a ship and fly as fast as an airplane at speeds of up to 500 km/h. It flew over distances of up to 2,000 km using lift generated by the “ground effect” acting on its large wings when about 4 metres above the surface of the water. This enabled the Ekranoplan to fly undetected by radars.

The name “Lun” was chosen because it comes from the Russian word for “harrier”, a bird which characteristically hunts by flying silently low over open ground.

A remnant of the past

The only Lun-class Ekranoplan ever built lies today on a beach of the Caspian sea near the city of Derbent (Russia) as a lonely reminder of past achievements. With its gigantic size, unique hybrid characteristics and quirky design, the Ekranoplan is a testimony to the incredible originality of Soviet-era engineering. Even now, after almost half a century, it looks incredibly futuristic.

A watch as testimony to the Ekranoplan Lun

The Raketa Watch Factory has always been inspired by incredible human technical achievements. It has therefore designed and manufactured a tool watch as testimony to the Ekranoplan. Raketa also hopes this will attract more attention to the Ekranoplan, and thus contribute to saving it.

Especially for this model, Raketa developed a new stainless steel case and metal band: its sturdy design corresponds to the looks and spirit of the Soviet-era Ekranoplan. The Raketa “Ekranoplan” watch is directly linked to the Lun-class Ekranoplan:

– The insert of the rotating bezel is made from a piece of metal from the Lun-class Ekranoplan, officially given by the city of Derbent which is in charge of safeguarding the Ekranoplan;

– The design of the compass markings on the bezel is directly inspired by the design of the compass on the control panel in the cockpit of the Ekranoplan;

– An embossed image of the Ekranoplan is printed on the dial.

The back of the watch reveals the beautifully decorated 24-hour automatic movement which is entirely produced by the Raketa Watch Factory in Saint-Petersburg.

The Raketa “Ekranoplan” watch model is limited to 500 pieces.

Each watch model is complemented with a leather strap. The model is also available as part of a Gift set which includes the Raketa “Ekranoplan” watch model with stainless steel bracelet, an additional leather strap and a 1:400 scale model of the Lun-class Ekranoplan.

The price

The cost of the watch is 1.667 EUR (without VAT) $2,410.08 CAD at time of writing. The cost of the Gift set is 2083 EUR (without VAT) $3,011.52 CAD at time of writing. For the comfort of customers, Raketa watches are delivered worldwide free of charge by DHL directly up to their front door.

RAKETA “EKRANOPLAN”

– l’insert de la lunette tournante est fabriqué à partir d’un morceau de métal de l’Ekranoplan Lun, officiellement transmis à la Manufacture Raketa par la ville de Derbent (qui est en charge de la préservation de l’Ekranoplan) ;

– le design des signes de boussole sur la lunette est inspiré de la boussole du tableau de commande situé dans le cockpit de l’Ekranoplan ;

Raketa Watches Russia Launch Model Dedicated to Love

RAKETA BIG LOVE
Everything starts with love!

To mark the International Women’s Day on 8th March, Raketa releases a watch for ladies dedicated to the most beautiful feeling: Love.

Raketa “Big Love” offers a new interpretation of femininity. A watch as a mood, as a feeling, as love.

This model symbolizes the essence of Raketa’s “Big Zero” model: everything starts from 0. The hands of Raketa “Big Love” turn in a circle designating the word “LOVE” and each time the hour hand passes by the big “0” (or in this case the big letter “O”) everything restarts with LOVE!

The dial of Raketa “Big Love” embodies a minimalist design which is nevertheless full of feelings: a black and white dial with big letters L, O, V, E, crowned with the letter “O” (or with a zero – as you prefer).

With its classic black and white dial design and its four different color leather straps, Raketa “Big Love”  will match any style and mood. The white, bright reddish-orange as well as pastel shades of pink and blue straps will emphasize your personality in both casual and classic styles. The quick-change strap system allows you to easily change the straps depending on your current outfit or mood.

Through the case-back of the watch, you can see the beautifully decorated Raketa automatic movement, fully manufactured in Saint-Petersburg by the Raketa Watch Factory.

Raketa “Big Love” is produced this year in a limited quantity of 200 models.

The price

The cost of the watch is 1333 EUR (without VAT) $1,413 USD / $1,906 CAD. For the comfort of customers, Raketa watches are delivered worldwide free of charge by DHL directly up to the front door.

RAKETA BIG LOVE

ArtyA “Lion’s Head Timepiece” Combines Classical Engraving With Sculptured Figures

During the medieval Gothic period, depictions of lions were important talismans. A knight wearing a lion’s head on his breastplate or his shield channeled the power and dominance of the King of the Jungle. That’s why Yvan Arpa, CEO of Artya, was looking for the right combination of elements for his new Lion’s Head Tourbillon timepiece, and he found it when he met Bram Ramon.

Born in Flanders, Belgium, Ramon is a sculptor and engraver. A few years ago, ArtyA introduced the Brabant Tourbillon and the Arabesque Tourbillon, and a couple of years later Arpa and Ramon debuted the Lion’s Head Tourbillon.

Inspired by the neo–‐renaissance style and the armed knights of medieval times, Arpa and Ramon came up with a brand new way of engraving that combines deep chiseling with sculpture, and the result is incredible.

Ramon’s specialty is combining classical engraving with sculptured figures. As an example, the Lion’s Head at 12 o’clock is so powerful it appears to be leaping off the face of the watch, especially with its eyes of 24 ct gold.

This had never been done before in a watch, and Artya dared to pair this with one of watchmaking’s most traditional complications, the flying tourbillon. The Lion’s Head exudes power, a touch of Gothic spirit, a hint of religion and an artisan’s excellence.

Just looking at the Lion’s Head is captivating, as the eye is drawn to the mixture of grooves, crevasses and sculpted figures. And the tourbillon complication at six o’clock finishes off this exceptional, unique piece.

“I love working with Bram,” says Arpa. “We had such fun the first two times around, with the Tourbillon Arabesque and the Brabant Tourbillon, I couldn’t wait to get another project going with him. I love this piece so much –‐–‐ I don’t really want to sell it.”
