A Cooking Journal With A Unique Interface- Not Connected to Smartphone

Here’s a cooking journal with a unique platform that helps you create signature recipes and becomes your personal cookbook. It’s a perfect booklet for all people who enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen. The project first launched a couple of years ago on Kickstarter under the name Project Cookbook.

Project Cookbook 1If you want to get more creative with your cooking, but still make sure your ideas don’t melt away as fast as the food from your plates, Cookbook is the perfect fit for your kitchen.  Old SkoolThis cooking journal with a unique interface helps you develop signature recipes and create a culinary heritage. And what’s the best part? It’s not connected to your smartphone. It is a physical booklet that will become your trusted cooking companion and is destined to become your personal cookbook.

If other similar booklets are meant to simply copy and gather recipes of others, Cookbook’s idea and purpose is much different: after you equip the Cookbook with recipes of your choice, they simply serve as a starting point of your future cooking experiments. It features a development platform for every recipe where you can keep track of all the changes to the original recipe – whether it’s tinkering with your cooking process or changing the ingredients.

Project Cookbook Inside

After each try you can use the scoreboard to evaluate your dish, write down important notes for next time and keep a tab on who loves it the most.

The aim is to remind people that cooking is more than just following recipes. As the team puts it: ‘’We are hoping Cookbook will motivate people to develop their own recipes and create a culinary heritage, which they will be able to share with their friends, family and future generations.

Something like the notebooks our grandmothers used to have, but with a modern twist.

Cookbook also holds an encyclopedia which helps you with everyday pickles like finding the appropriate wine pairing or quickly converting cups into grams. A minimalist design of the book gives you a sense of coziness and at the same time allows you to personalize the final outlook of your Cookbook. For the Silo, Hana Gaber.

Comic Book Featuring Stand Up Comics In The Works

Starburns Industries Press, the new publishing division of the studio behind Rick and Morty, is releasing Comics Comics, its most ambitious print project to date. Funded through an August-launching Kickstarter campaign, the Comic-est comics anthology of 2018 comes to readers in October. Comedians love comic books, cartoonists love comedy, and our idiot editor always mixes up comics who tell jokes and comics that have pictures. Now his perpetual confusion has led to the creation of Comics Comics, a quarterly anthology teaming comedy’s best with funny books’ brightest!

Comic Patton Oswalt

Comics Comics is an ongoing collection of original stories written entirely by stand-up comedians and drawn by leading comic industry artists who love comedy. Each issue contains at least 48 pages of brand-new stories written by headliners, cult favorites, and newcomers, drawn by artists from every corner of the comics world, from alternative to underground to superhero, all with the signature Starburns brand of wit that is simultaneously funny, sad, strange and beautiful.

“This series has lived in my head since I used to go to the Stumptown Comics Fest and the Bridgetown Comedy Fest on the same weekend years ago,” idiot editor Brendan Wright said. “I was struck by how much of a convention atmosphere there was at the after-hours open mics at Bridgetown, and starting this project and seeing how many comedians had favorite cartoonists they wanted to work with and how many cartoonists knew great comedians they could introduce to us made bringing together stand-up and comic books feels even more natural than I’d imagined.”

Comics Comics Issue1

Comics Comics features such voices as Patton Oswalt (MST3K, Happy!), Paul Scheer (How Did This Get Made?, The League), Sam Jay (SNL), Jackie Kashian (The Dork Forest), Quinta Brunson (Broke, Up for Adoption), Megan Koester (Coming to the Stage, Corporate), Sara Benincasa (Real Artists Have Day Jobs), Carolyn Main (Pitch, Please!), Eliot Rahal (New Comic Book Day), Rose Matafeo (Funny Girls), Nick Giovannetti (Bad Guys), with more announced throughout the campaign. SBI Press gave comedians the freedom to write whatever they wanted, in any genre—comedy or not—and they took us up on it! Delivering slices of life, flights of fancy, and journeys into genre, all with the unique worldview of people who stand in front of crowds and dissect the world into a microphone for a living.

Poop Knife Comic Strip by Carolyn Main

Teaming up to make these stories into comics are such comedy fans as Troy Nixey (Vinegar Teeth, The Black Sinister), Robert Hack (Chilling Tales of Sabrina), Evan Dorkin (Milk and Cheese, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Comic Book), Rick Altergott (Vice, Cracked), Brent Schoonover (Gregory Graves), Sarah Burrini (Nerd Girl), and more, with double threats like comedian/cartoonist Carolyn Main writing and drawing! A set of Kickstarter-exclusive covers are painted by cartoonist and HBO artist Richard P. Clark (The Boys, House of Gold & Bones).

The Comics Comics Kickstarter launches August 20 and continues through September 19. Backers can score individual copies of the comic in print and digital, as well as Kickstarter exclusives such as a hardcover version, prints, and other unique, limited-edition items. If you miss the Kickstarter, the book will be available in local comic shops, available to order through Diamond Previews and the Starburns Industries store. Comic book fans and comedy buffs alike can get a head start on the Kickstarter campaign by bookmarking ComicsComicsKickstarter.com.

Toronto Inventor Tackles Awkward Toilet Paper Holders

Toilet paper … it’s one of life’s necessities. Then why is the roll so difficult to replace? The problem lies in the awkward spring tube holder that always leaves you fumbling. No one wants to deal with it. We all know of that one person that always fails to change out the toilet paper roll. They’ll leave the empty roll on the holder and put a brand new one on top of the toilet or counter. The ZeNa attachment will solve that bad habit. Thanks to Alex Li, a thinker and inventor out of Toronto, Canada, this bathroom conundrum has finally been solved.

You can now change a roll out in a matter of seconds. It’s faster, easier and cleaner than the traditional spring tube method.

The ZeNa Attachment is an incredibly smart solution that fully modernizes your toilet paper holder. Its peel and stick design securely attaches (in seconds) to your existing TP dispenser, so there’s nothing more to install or buy. ZeNa Attachment’s patent pending swing design lets you swap out toilet paper rolls with one hand and it keeps it all in place with zero fuss.

Design

The patent pending design is an easy attachment to add to your existing toilet paper holder. No need to hire a contractor. The heavy duty double-sided foam tape on the underside of the base is super strong. Simply stick this on to your clean existing holder and you’re good to go. Both sides are the same so there’s no getting this wrong.

The arms always fall back into place from a tension mechanism that forces the arms downward. So it doesn’t matter if your ZeNa Attachment is not level as long as you have installed it properly, it will work.

The ZeNa Attachment is super durable, comes in several colors and is the perfect bathroom assistant for the disabled, kids and seniors too.  Learn more and support this initiative by visiting the ZeNa Kickstarter page. For the Silo, Jarrod Barker.

1000 Apple Trees At Röbäcksdalen Fully Funded Via Kickstarter For Brännland Cider

Brännland Cider’s new apple terroir at Röbäcksdalen in Umeå, Sweden.

At the beginning of November Brännland Cider, an international award winning cider producer in Umeå, Sweden, where I happen to work,  started a Kickstarter campaign called “1000 apple trees at Röbäcksdalen”, to fund the creation of an orchard and the start new apple terroir in their Northern home county of Västerbotten, not very far from the Arctic Circle.

30 days later, after international attention and countless shares on social media, the campaign is now fully funded. The funds have streamed in from private backers, businesses and institutions in the region and foreign backers in the markets where Brännland Cider is present, in the form of adoptions of the trees planted in the orchard.

Funding is primarily earmarked for research into organic farming practices and all research results and knowledge derived from the orchard will be shared with anyone who wants to grow fruit in Northern Sweden. The ultimate long term goal is to create a new apple terroir for cider production.

We’re totally amazed by the support that’s been coming in from our local as well as the national and international communities. In the past four years we’ve striven to produce the best cider and ice cider possible using the best Swedish apples. It is fantastic to see that our work has inspired confidence enough in what we do, that people want to lend us this kind of support.

Me in my happy place!
Me in my happy place!

The next step for Brännland Cider is to create a dedicated web for the orchard where adopters can follow their specific tree through the seasons. In spring time, a limited edition cider will be produced and offered only to the backers of the Kickstarter campaign as a celebration of the funding of 1000 apple trees at Röbäcksdalen. For the Silo, Andreas Sundgren Graniti, CEO Brännland Cider AB.

With the simple action of clicking one of three buttons included on this smart device, COOPY uses its own application to complete designated functions as set by the user. Aleksander Preglej, Chief Technology Officer of Pentasens:  “COOPY is perfect for any type of user: a business professional, athlete, parent, young adult or even a child. We also designed this device to include time and location awareness, so the functions automatically change based on where you are and when. This is one of the major features that sets us apart from our competition.

With the ever-growing demands of our day-to-day schedules and the potential danger of multi-tasking at inopportune times, our company wanted to create COOPY as an easy-to-handle gadget that allows you to be as productive as possible without jeopardizing your safety or the safety of those around you. We know that everyone’s time is valuable and sometimes it could pose as a risk when you’re trying to do too much at one time.”

Pentasens rolled out its first product, SensMesh, a wireless sensor system (www.sensmesh.com) in 2014, which evolved into a smart modular solution for boats, BoatEye (boateye.io). Keeping up with the latest trends in technology, Pentasens strives to provide consumers with state-of-the-art products, safe to use and modern and sleek in design.

Kickstarter Pledge Kickstarter campaign for COOPY runs until July3rd and can be accessed here.
